Spicy White Mellows 🌶

Spicy White Mellows (Ammini Kozhukattai) - அம்னி கொழுக்கட்டை is a traditional way of preparing and a unique South Indian Recipe. This recipe is yummy 😋 and very good snack. A recipe made with rice and coconut. The shape of this recipe will be like soft mellow.

Spicy White Mellows Recipe


Main Ingredients:


  1. Backed Raw Rice flour(refrigerated) - refer Modak(Indian Sweet Momo) recipe for baking

  2. Grated Coconut 🥥 1 cup

  3. Red Chilli 🌶 2

  4. Mustard seeds 1 tbsp

  5. Urad dall 2 tbsp

  6. Coconut Oil 2-3 tbsp

  7. Curry leaves 🍃 a handful

  8. Asafoetida 2 tbsp

  9. Water


Making of Spicy White Mellows (Ammini Kozhukattai) - அம்னி கொழுக்கட்டை


  1. Take a tawa and keep the stove on a medium flame

  2. Add 1/2 cup water and bring it to boil

  3. Add baked raw rice flour ( refer Modak(Indian Sweet Momo) recipe for baking)

  4. Give a good mix for about 10 mints on a medium flame


Baking the Rice Flour


  1. Take out and make small round mellows and keep it aside

  2. Once all flour done with mellows add these mellows in an idly tray

  3. Pressure cook for about 5-6 minutes and

  4. Once it gets cool down take out from idly tray and keep it aside


Saute Mellows


  1. Take a tawa and add 2-3 tbsp coconut oil, keep the stove on medium flame

  2. When the oil is hot add mustard seeds and let it pop

  3. Add urad dal and saute till it gets golden brown

  4. Now add red chilli 🌶, asafoetida, curry leaves 🍃 and give a good mix

  5. Now add grated coconut 🥥 and saute for few seconds

  6. Add the backed mellows and saute for few seconds

  7. Spicy White Mellows ready, serve hot
